WordCamp Houston 2010
This past Saturday I attended WordCamp Houston.
It was held at the Museum of Natural Science and included a mixture of WordPress users, developers and enthusiasts.
Schipul, the company I work for, was one of the main sponsors and our very own Katie Laird played a big part in coordinating and organizing the event.
The opening keynote speech was given by the founder of WordPress , Matt Mullenwig, a native Houstonian and ironically a former student of my cousin Lloyd Hughes (Matt said Lloyd was one of his first music teachers and one of his only teachers that was into technology when he was growing up).
I spent the morning standing behind the camera that filmed the keynote that was broadcasting to Ustream.
After that I attended a few sessions and soaked up some good knowledge.
A few key takeaways from the conference were
- Kelsey Ruger is a genius! If you have never heard him speak you are missing out. His presentation was awesome.
- There was an unusual number of toe shoes
- Shopify is a good, customizable e-commerce solution that can be easily themed to match the theme of your WordPress install
- Log in to post comments
