The Memphis Grizzlies capped off Black History Month celebrations with the annual HBCU Night on February 28th.

Students from two local high schools had the opportunity to connect and learn more about the experience of attending an HBCU during a panel and college fair hosted by Dre Martin, founder of HBCU Night, Inc.

After the student panel, HBCU Alumni, family and friends were able to network while enjoying an HBCU in-game experience that included a mixer, an on-court stroll off, HBCU marching and more.

The Grizzlies Team Mentor Program places three volunteer adult mentors with six students to form a TEAM; each TEAM functions as a micro-community with its own identity, culture, values, and voice.

This was my first year as a mentor and I was lucky enough to get placed with two of the most dedicated co-mentors in the program, Elliot Perry and Justin Brazil. Our students were 8th graders attending Grizzlies Prep, an all-boys charter school founded by the Memphis Grizzlies Foundation.
